Video artist Christian Jankowski and philosopher Dirk Rustemeyer jointly discuss their respective professional perspectives on cinema as a medium which takes its power from our belief in the image, bringing together different points of view: the position of an artist who often uses cinema and television as a source and inspiration for his work on the one hand, and the position of a researcher who recently published his book on the philosophy of cinema Darstellung: Philosophie des Kinos (2012) presenting metaphysics, religion, and politics in 'strong' images together, on the other. From their different perspectives, they both investigate the source of our great fascination in film and of the medium's seductiveness.
