The lecture by Jennifer Allen concludes a week-long seminar of Zurich University of the Arts students at KW Institute for Contemporary Art, led by artist Erik Steinbrecher.

Already in November 2014, Steinbrecher's MFA class had presented the results of an investigation of traditional architecture aspects at KW. The observations focussed on "vernacular" design in the urban space; on bricolages and temporary facilities.

In the second phase of the project, the students use the urban space of Berlin as a big, experimental studio. They used this room 'ambulantly' and intervened in it, collected and produced histories. Landscape architects atelier le balto, artists Christoph Keller and Heidi Specker, and architecture professor Norbert Palz (Universität der Künste, Berlin) were invited as guests to discuss with the students within the symposium.

Jennifer Allen is a Berlin-based critic and has written for Artforum, Frieze, and Mousse.
