Thierry Fontaine
Photographic Works

16 July – 12 November 00

The 31 year old artist Thierry Fontaine, originally from the African island La Réunion and currently resident at the Villa Medici in Rome, examines in his photographic work the immediate sculptural alterability and representation of the human body. In his self-portraits staged on the beach, Fontaine changes and estranges his own body with classical sculpture materials such as clay and plaster, thus creating a series of „Mutations“.

The exhibition in KW Institute for Contemporary Art is the first presentation of Fontaine’s work in Germany.
