Para.Proto.Next—Questions on the Futures of Art Education
Please note: Para.Proto.Next–Questions on the Futures of Art Education was originally conceived as a series of events and network meetings at KW. Due to the temporary closure of the institution as well as the existing contact restrictions caused by the worldwide spread of the coronavirus, the event will take place online until further notice.
Dates
22 June, 6 July, 28 September, 7–8.30 pm
With the event series Para, Proto, Next—Questions on the Futures of Art Education, KW Institute for Contemporary Art and the founders of The Art Educator’s Talk LIVE attempt a glance into the Unknown. During three events, various protagonists of the field will discuss in lectures, skill-sharing sessions, workshops and talks, how art education—and thus also the institutions in which it takes place —can look like into the future by the means of the present.
How can art education shape museums, society, and democracy in the future? Is it at all possible to think about art mediation from a future position? What do art educators need? Which scenarios still need to be developed and anticipated? Which infrastructures favor the processes of the indeterminate?
In order to pursue these and many other questions, the series invites diverse perspectives, which, among others, focus on the future of art mediation in the context of the ‘para museum’, provide insights into process-based art mediation and critically reflect on the topics in the light of (precarious) working conditions, as well as institutional and individual expectations.
With: Renata Cervetto, Nanna Lüth, Duygu Örs, Nora Sternfeld, Katja Zeidler, and other guests
Moderation: Gila Kolb, Konstanze Schütze (agency art education)
The event is aimed at people interested in art education, its formats, fields of application, and forms of organization.
The Art Educator’s Talk is a trilingual blog featuring a series of live conversations aimed at art educators and art mediators.
