On the occasion of the launch of The Infinite Library. Books 1 – 50, KW Institute for Contemporary Art hosts a conversation between the artists Haris Epaminonda & Daniel Gustav Cramer and Léon Kruijswijk (Assistant Curator at KW). It is the first publication of the eponymous project by the artist duo and fully documents the first 50 books. During the talk, they will touch upon the publication, the long-running project as well as the artistic process.

Founded in 2007, The Infinite Library is an ever-expanding archive that brings together books collected by Epaminonda and Cramer, dating from 1890 up to the 1980s. Each book has been dismantled, modified and reshaped into a new volume. These modifications are done through free associations of ideas, forms and materials that unfold in the process of making. Through this methodology Epaminonda and Cramer go against traditional categorization principles of books and libraries, with which the artists open up a myriad of possibilities for interpretation as well as knowledge reproduction and distribution.

The Infinite Library. Books 1 – 50 is published by Badischer Kunstverein and New Documents.
