Workshop on the concept of care work

B*tches and Babies is aimed at all people who have children, want to have children, exclude the desire for children for themselves, or are discriminated against because of a desire to have children. The exhibition The Making of Husbands: Christina Ramberg in Dialogue served as a prelude to regularly organized meetings on questions of maternity*, care work and new parenting to steer them into productive spaces for action.

Based on the depictions of (female) body parts in the work of Christina Ramberg, the second event by B*tches & Babies invites you to investigate the question of which physical contours care work can take. How does parental or family self-optimization bend our bodies? Aren’t we all turning into hunchbacks, elves*, trolls* and artists* when we carry, comfort, weigh and wrap?

A make-shift shadow stage will be used to discuss with the participants what it means to take care and how a new concept of care work can be visualized, while including structural, economic, political and personal dimensions.
