with Thesea Rigou and Andrew Suggs

Andrew Suggs and Thesea Rigou host a hands-on photography workshop that explores in depth the themes of the exhibition Ruins of Rooms, including queer temporalities and sexuality, body-as-object, performance and theatricality. Participants will collectively stage and shoot their own photographs inspired by the works of Jimmy DeSana and Paul P. and through their own creative process engage in a group discussion about their relationship to the works on view. English is the primary language of this workshop. No formal photography experience is required. Limited to 20 participants.

Thesea Rigou Efstathopoulos is an artist, art-mediator and gardener based in Berlin. Their artistic practice explores current socio-ecological issues in installations, performances, artist books and printmaking.

Andrew Suggs is a New York based curator and writer whose research centers around art and AIDS. They are currently pursuing a master’s degree at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College where they have extensively researched and written about DeSana. Prior to graduate work at CCS Bard, Andrew worked with a range of non-profit arts institutions, including six years as the Executive Director and Curator of Vox Populi (Philadelphia). Their writing has appeared many exhibition catalogs, including, most recently, Karma’s monograph on Louise Fishman.
