KW Institute for Contemporary Art was founded in post-wall Berlin. Since then, exhibitions have been set up, presented, displayed and dismantled almost without interruption. Over the decades, boxes of archive material have piled up until Jenny Dirksen made it accessible in recent years. These fragments of the past can now be used to reconstruct numerous retrospectives in order to get a better grip on yesterday’s present.
KW, unboxed invites you to take a look behind the scenes. Selected archive material is presented to illustrate the development of a derelict factory into an internationally recognised institution that has also become part of the city’s biography through its own history.
