Liam Gillick examines in his short story Liberation of the Stool a stool’s search for identity and its trouble for definition through its own attributes. Afflicted by societal needs for categorization, it has a Gestalt therapist certify its crisis of form. Once the stool is liberated from fixed attributions, it manages to run free and enjoy its existence as a mixed form.
