Hailing from New York’s queer club scene, Neva Demure will present the unplugged sides of her new album, Antidote, at Pogo Bar.
Neva’s most recent single, Trauma Curl, marks a striking departure from the hyper-pop sounds that previously defined her work. This evolution goes beyond a mere sonic shift—it’s a redefinition of her artistic identity. Embracing analog production, Neva trades the glossy, high-energy veneer of hyper-pop for a more personal and tactile style; focusing on live instrumentation and stripped-back vocals instead of auto-tune and electronic beats.
Neva Demure’s debut EP Shame to Vengeance (2018), launched her in the New York Club scene with its tongue-in-cheek, hypersexual lyrics. In contrast, Antidote offers a raw, messy, and intimate insight into her world. Blending contemporary electronic and dance influences with alternative rock, her new sound pays homage to the 1990s and MTV unplugged shows. The album tells a personal journey with confessional lyrics, delving into themes of mental health and the transfeminine experience.
Antidote will be published on 11 April 2025 via Movement Records. While gearing up for a loud and electronic release concert, Neva and her band will play the softer sides of her album at KW’s Pogo Bar, performing acoustic renditions in its brick-stone basement with a five-piece band.
Neva Demure (born and raised in Seattle, US), is a Berlin-based emerging artist reshaping electronic and alternative music. Her recent releases include the single TIGHTLIP (2022), and the EP Shame to Vengeance (2018), among others. Between 2022 and 2023, she was a part of the musical duo Too Fated.
