Natis (b. 1986, CYP) explores the relationship he sees between his own psyche and the ideals of Western subjectivity, which are particularly present in the figure of the artist. To explore this, he creates and uses different artist personas with their own history, personality and artistic practice.

During the opening of BPA// Exhibition 2024 – Half-Light, Natis debuts a new artist persona: Hasso Weiß Ehrenwerth, a German-British painter whose work blends neo-expressionism and surrealism. He limps on his left leg for psychosomatic reasons. The performance deals with the integration of Hasso Weiß Ehrenwerth into Natis’ existing psychic structures and at the same time addresses (self-)representation, revelation and concealment as instruments of power and control in historic and contemporary visual culture.

Hasso Weiß Ehrenwerth is the third artist persona that Natis has brought to life. The first was Hasan Aksaygın, a Cypriot conceptual painter and narrator of para-fictional stories who explores the individual and collective visual subconscious. Hank Yan Agassi followed, a being from an indeterminate future space-time whose painterly practice and research deals with earthly materialities from a postmordial, as opposed to primordial, perspective.
