BPA// Berlin program for artists
BPA// Berlin program for artists is an independent mentoring program that facilitates exchange between emerging and established Berlin-based artists. Founded in 2016 by artists Angela Bulloch, Simon Denny, and Willem de Rooij, BPA// fosters connections across media and generations.
At the core of the program are mutual studio visits, public events, and exhibitions. BPA// supports 20 emerging artists over a two-year period; each year, ten new participants are selected by a jury of Berlin-based artists and cultural experts.
The program’s regular mentors include Saâdane Afif, Yalda Afsah, Monika Baer, Mariana Castillo Deball, Bouchra Khalili, Thomas Locher, and Olaf Nicolai. They are joined annually by more than 50 guest mentors from a range of disciplines.

The partnership between the KW Institute for Contemporary Art and BPA// began in 2020. Together, they co-develop the annual BPA// Exhibition, which presents new works by current BPA// participants developed during the two-year program. The collaboration also includes public formats such as the 2020/21 lecture series BPA// Talks, and the annual Show and Tell sessions, where participants present their work on view at KW.
