In the context of the exhibition 40 Jahre Kunst im Kontext: Der Weg eines Instituts of the Art in Context Program of the Faculty of Fine Arts (UdK Berlin), KUNSTrePUBLIK will be introducing the Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik (ZK/U) as an example of moving from temporary to permanent usage. KUNSTrePUBLIK is an artist collective founded in 2006. From 2006 to 2010, the collective was the operational superstructure of the Skulpturenpark Berlin_Zentrum. The collective is experimenting in different social fields, in varying roles, and founded the ZK/U in 2012 (Center for Art and Urbanistics). The two-story part of the former freight yard building in Moabit was completely refurbished in 2012 and with the aid of a leasehold agreement (Erbbaurechtvertrag) publicly extended to create studio apartments for artists, urban researchers, and others.
