Sanya Kantarovsky and Liz Magic Laser (New York) present a new performance that dramatizes statistical data related to current events, popular culture, and the Internet. Five dancers offer the latest facts and figures by animating mobile theater flats that evoke a bar graph. Drawing on the stages of the "Hero′s Journey" by Joseph Campbell, the performance traces the narrative of a man searching the Internet for meaning.

Laser′s performances and videos explore the performative dimension of politics and public self-presentation. Borrowing from a wide range of art historical and cultural sources, Kantarovsky's paintings, sculptures, and theatrical installations imagine personal and collective worlds, questioning distinctions between figuration, abstraction, mannerism, and sincerity. The performance is their second collaboration and was produced to take place at the Badischer Kunstverein in Karlsruhe, in the context of the exhibition What Were You Expecting, Mr. Milquetoast, A Plot? (curated by Roos Gortzak) and at KW Institute for Contemporary Art for its Berlin premier.

Produced with Badischer Kunstverein in Karlsruhe.
With the kind support of Tanya Leighton Gallery, Berlin.
