Based on a press conference held at KW about artist Katharina Sieverding’s controversial Deutschland wird deutscher work in 1993, political geographer Sinthujan Varatharajah and artist Moshtari Hilal re-stage this event as part of KW’s 30th anniversary. Together with selected guests, they will reflect on the social relevance and role of contemporary art and its institutions in Germany. To whom does our present belong? Who remains absent from our understanding of the contemporary? And who is forced to find refuge in utopias and futurisms?
