Despite their cheerful exteriors, the works by Amelie von Wulffen often seem imbued with a grim mood. What do these visual contradictions embody, how familiar are they to us? Can they even evoke repressed memories and feelings when looking more closely?

In this interactive format, we approach these and other questions in dialogue with the works by the artist. The workshop will present a thematic selection of artworks and collaborative exercises based on associations with ‘German’ motifs, such as the family heritage as burden, collective memory, and grisly childhood narratives. More information on the workshop will be sent via email after registration.

The workshop will be led and conducted by the following art mediators:

Barbara Campaner is an art historian and art educator.

As a writer, visual artist, and educator Samira Ghoualmia addresses issues of identity and post-colonialism.

Jeanne-Ange Megouem Wagne is a German-Cameroonian creative and aspiring art historian from Berlin.

Marc Bredemeier combines art, design and its mediation in his aesthetic practice. He focusses on community-building aspects.
