Im Laufe der Geschichte der westlichen Literatur haben Blumen, Früchte und Bäume verschiedene symbolische Bedeutungen angenommen, um Emotionen und Gefühle anschaulich zu beschreiben. Rose in the Dark ist ein Lyriksalon, der sich der transhistorischen Semiotik der Natur sowie den mehrdeutigen Momenten von Sehnsucht, Lust, Liebe und Verlust widmet – die überrepräsentiert, und doch vertraut sind.

Thanos Frydas (geboren 1992, Griechenland) ist ein Performance-Künstler, der seit 2016 in Berlin arbeitet. Unter Bezugnahme auf Elemente aus der griechischen Tanz- und Musiktradition (Volkstänze, Klagelieder) beschäftigt er sich mit Fragen zu zeitgenössischen menschlichen Beziehungen und Interaktionen. Zuletzt präsentierte er die Performance True Blue (2021) bei Hosek Contemporary und Super Delicious Path (2020) im Kunsthaus KuLe.

Thanos hat ein Diplom und einen Doktortitel in Medizin. Parallel zu seinem Studium erhielt er eine Theater-, Performance- und Tanzausbildung in Griechenland, Leipzig, New York und Berlin. Er ist für verschiedene Künstler*innen aufgetreten und war 2019 Resident im Watermill Center von Robert Wilson in New York.
